How do I add my first plant?
Tap the "Add Plant" button on the home screen or go to your Garden tab and tap the + button. Fill in the plant name, category, and any details you'd like to track. You can also use the Seed Scanner to auto-fill details from a seed packet.
How does the AI Seed Scanner work?
Open the Scanner tab and point your camera at the front or back of a seed packet. The app uses optical character recognition to read the text and automatically extract planting details like spacing, depth, sunlight, and watering needs. You can scan both sides and edit any results before saving.
Is Seed Sown free to use?
Yes! Seed Sown is free to download and use with up to 5 plants and 3 seed scans per month. Upgrade to Sown Pro to unlock unlimited plants, unlimited scans, advanced analytics, data export, and priority support.

Garden & Plants

How do I track a plant's growth stage?
Open any plant from your Garden and you'll see a growth timeline showing its current stage — from seed through germination, seedling, vegetative, flowering, to harvest ready. The app tracks this based on your planting date and the plant's expected growth timeline.
Can I organize plants by garden bed or location?
Yes. When adding or editing a plant, you can assign a location or bed name. Use the filter options on the Garden screen to view plants by specific location.
How do I log a harvest?
You can log a harvest from the Home screen's Quick Actions or from within any plant's detail page. Enter the weight, date, and an optional quality rating. All harvests appear in your Harvest History with analytics on yield and performance.

Account & Subscription

How do I upgrade to Sown Pro?
Go to your Profile tab and tap "Sown Pro." Choose a monthly ($4.99/mo) or yearly ($29.99/yr) plan. Both include a 7-day free trial. Your subscription is managed through the App Store.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Subscriptions are managed by the App Store. Open Settings on your device, tap your name, then Subscriptions, and select Seed Sown to cancel or modify your plan. You'll retain Pro access until the end of your current billing period.
Can I export my garden data?
Sown Pro members can export all their data (plants, seeds, harvests, reminders, and profile info) as JSON or CSV files. Go to Profile > Export Data to download your information.
How do I delete my account?
Go to Profile > Delete Account. This will permanently remove your account and all associated data. This action cannot be undone, so please export your data first if you'd like to keep a copy.

Troubleshooting

The seed scanner isn't reading my packet correctly
For best results, make sure the seed packet is well-lit, flat, and fills most of the camera frame. Avoid glare or shadows across the text. You can also scan both the front and back of the packet separately. After scanning, you can manually edit any fields that weren't captured correctly.
I'm not receiving reminders
Make sure notifications are enabled for Seed Sown in your device settings (Settings > Notifications > Seed Sown). Also check that your reminder preferences are turned on within the app under Profile > Notification Settings.
Weather isn't showing on my dashboard
The weather feature requires location access. Go to your device settings and ensure Seed Sown has permission to access your location. The weather will update automatically once location is enabled.
